Twelve suites cut into the cliff above a private bay. No crowds, no schedule — only sea air, long lunches and the sound of water below.
The retreat
A house, not a hotel.
Solenne began as a family villa in 1908 and has been restored, room by room, over fifteen years. The stone is original. The lemon trees on the lower terrace are older still.
There is no reception desk and no check-in queue. You are met at the gate, shown to your rooms, and left to find your own rhythm.

Rooms above the water
Each suite faces the bay. Linen, lime plaster, cool stone floors and shutters that open onto the sea.
Sea Room
Our simplest room and the favourite of most guests. Bed, shutters, sea.
Lemon House
A separate two-bedroom cottage in the grove, with its own kitchen and pool.
Dining
Lunch that runs into evening.
Two kitchens: a terrace for long, slow lunches under the vines, and a smaller room below the house where twelve seats face an open fire.
Everything comes from within forty kilometres — or, in the case of most of the fish, from the bay you're looking at.

The days
Do very little, beautifully.
The bay
A wooden boat leaves each morning for the coves along the coast — swimming, lunch aboard, back by four.
The bath house
A vaulted stone room with a cold plunge, steam and two treatment tables. Booked by the hour, never shared.
The path of the gods
The old mountain trail begins at our gate. Walk an hour or walk all day; we'll send you with lunch either way.
Enquiries
The house opens in April.
We take a limited number of reservations each season and answer every enquiry personally, usually within a day.
